Samiha
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT LEAD
Biography
Samiha is a medical student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry whose work centers on advocacy, caregiving, and community connection. For the past decade, she has been involved with Hospice Toronto and the Young Carers Program, supporting young caregivers and advocating for individuals navigating illness, aging, and social isolation.
These experiences shaped her understanding of how deeply loneliness, caregiving burden, and access to support affect long-term wellbeing — and continue to influence her approach to medicine and community leadership.
As Program Development Lead at Project Amity, Samiha helps guide initiatives focused on reducing isolation among older adults through intergenerational connection, volunteer engagement, and community-centered programming. Her work focuses on building sustainable, compassionate spaces that prioritize dignity, human connection, and preventative approaches to wellbeing.
She is particularly interested in the intersection of healthcare, advocacy, and the social determinants of health, with a passion for creating systems that make people feel seen, supported, and valued.
